03 - Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Watch carefully to prevent boiling over.
04 - Reduce heat to low, cover tightly with a lid, and simmer for 15 minutes. Do not lift the lid during cooking to maintain proper steam pressure.
05 - Remove from heat and let stand covered for 10 minutes. This resting period allows the rice to finish cooking through steam absorption.
06 - Uncover the saucepan and fluff the rice gently with a fork. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with toasted coconut flakes and fresh cilantro or scallions if desired.
